Those of you who know me or follow me on Twitter know I’m a huge music fan (#musicmondays, anyone!?). Hollerado is a band I saw play at the Horseshow Tavern in December and immediately developed a bit of a band-crush on, even though they all look like they might still be undergoing puberty. Aside from the fact that…
their single Juliette got the entire bar on their feet and dancing, what I thought that was really interesting was that they made their concert a true experience. During the show, the band members actually threw branded cups out to the crowd, inviting everyone who got a cup to join them for a round of free shots after their set. I thought this was a really unique way to create an experience that their fans would go and share with their friends the next day. Who wouldn’t brag about partying with the band?! Seriously! So, the reason I’m blogging about this now is because I happened to stumble upon this video on 102.1 The Edge which talked about the release of their album. In case you’re too lazy to watch the vid, the band is packaging their albums Ziplocks full of “fun stuff” including goodies, confetti, a download card with bonus tracks, and the chance to win access to Hollerado shows for an entire year! (This video is a documentary of the record in a bag process. It includes nachos. Delicious!) I just thought this was such a cool way to make buying an album, something that people are so reluctant to do considering they can steal it online, an experience in and of itself…now go buy their album! Free confetti and goodies for all!
