The Hiring Process

Q. What steps are involved in the hiring process?

A. Most successful applicants follow a common series of steps:

  • The applicant arrives at our Web site, usually through referral, seeing an advertisement or upon receiving a cold call.
  • They create a profile to tell us about their qualifications and interests, and then search the job listings.
  • Upon finding a relevant job opportunity, they apply for the position online, making sure to complete all necessary forms.
  • A Mosaic recruiter then reviews the application. If the applicant is deemed qualified, they are then contacted to conduct a phone screening.
  • If successful, the applicant is then contacted by a field manager to schedule a hiring manager interview (HMI). The HMI is conducted face-to-face, via videoconference or over the phone.
  • Upon successful completion of the HMI, the applicant is then presented with an offer and required to fill out some paperwork.
  • If everything comes back in good standing, including background checks and/or drug screening, the applicant then receives an employee number and begins training and orientation.

Q. How long does it take to complete the hiring process?

A. It can vary, from a day to three months depending on how senior the position is. Generally, however, a job applicant will take 30 days to complete all steps and start in a position.

Q. I just applied for a position online. How long will it take before I’m contacted about scheduling an interview?

A. You should receive acknowledgment by e-mail that your application has been received within two to three days. If we find the position matches your qualifications, we will contact you to schedule interviews with the hiring team as soon as possible. Please keep in mind, we typically receive up to 5000 applications per week. Yes, our HR teams are very busy people!

Q. Can I refer a friend for a job?

A. Yes. Simply use the “Send This Job to a Friend” button at the bottom of the job list or job posting. The posting will then be sent to your friend along with an email from you.

Q. Do you offer employee referral bonuses?

A. Referral bonuses are offered to current employees of Mosaic. Even if you’re not an employee, however, we encourage you to refer a friend to our Web site. We often see such actions working out well for both parties.

Creating and Managin Your Profile

Q. What is a “Profile”?

A. A “Profile” is a means to inform Mosaic of your job interests and skills without actually applying for a specific job. The profile provides us with a snapshot of your background, which we then refer to during candidate searches. Essentially, it’s a great way to keep your career options open.

Q. Why should I take the time to fill out a profile rather than simply sending you my resume?

A. Having an online profile not only saves you time, but also makes it easy to apply for multiple positions at Mosaic. In addition, we regularly recruit people by searching our database of profiles. In other words, we come to you!

Q. How do I change or update my profile?

A. To change information stored in your profile, including personal information and work history, log in to the recruitment system using your current e-mail and password. Once you make and save your changes, your profile will be updated immediately.

Q. What if I forget my password?

A. On the login screen, input your ID and select the “forgot password” link. Your password will be emailed to you within the hour.

Q. How do I opt-out of receiving job alert e-mails?

A. In order to unsubscribe from receiving job alerts, log in to the system and “uncheck” the e-mail alert option.

Submitting an Application

Q. Do I have to apply online in order to be considered?

A. Yes, all candidates must apply online through the careers section of the Web site. There are specific job requirements included in the online application process that ensure all candidates are reviewed in the same fashion, with the same required form.

Q. How do I know if the position is still open?

A. A position is still open as long as the job posting is viewable on the Web site. Once a position has been filled, the job posting will be removed.

Q. How do I know if my online application was received?

A. You will be notified of the receipt of your submission by email, typically the same day.

Q. Can I submit my resume to Mosaic even if there isn’t a specific position available?

A. Yes. By creating a profile and entering your skills and qualifications into the system, you enable Mosaic recruiters to perform searches based on your information. In addition, you may also request to be notified via email about opportunities that match specific criteria that you have defined in your profile.

Q. Do I have to answer the same questions online every time I apply for a position?

A. It depends. All of your previous application data is saved on our system, so it may be as easy as answering a couple of new questions about the job and updating your resume appropriately.

Q. If I apply for more than one position, will I be considered for both?

A. Yes, you will be considered for any position you apply for. We occasionally have positions that are short-term and therefore we may be able to have you work in both positions.

Q. How long is my application kept on file?

A. Your electronic application will be kept for a period of seven years, during which time you can continually update it. Once an application has been dormant for more than seven years it is deleted.
